During the colony years, the importance of the cities was signaled by the the location of its church. If it was built in the main square,  it indicated that the city was important.  The San Martín de Tours church faces the Main Square, so Sechura, from its beginnings, was an important city on the Peruvian coast.  It owes its name to the Hungarian Saint who was in Sechura on the date of its foundation, 1572.

Rate our ReviewsWe were on the road after visiting “El Cascajal”, where we learned a little more about the production of pisco, and we arrived at Huacachina, 20 minutes later.  Imagine a place in the middle of an immense desert where water, vegetation and an impressive landscape are present, and that is this oasis.
