Traveling and sampling different local foods are two of the most enjoyable moments in my life. It was privilege to be able to sample the food in this restaurant, as the Guincho a Galera restaurant is a branch of the Fortaleza do Guincho restaurant in Portugal. with one Michelin star. Unfortunately the child restaurant does not have any Michelin stars at the moment. However I would not be surprised if they receive it in the near future.
The Guincho a Galera restaurant is located on the third floor of the famous Lisboa Hotel in Macau, and it offers authentic Portuguese cuisine, where the food is prepared in the most skilled and innovative style.
From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, it offered luxury and pampering. The staff dressed in eyes catching, bright colour, traditional uniforms and they speak English well. The chair was very comfortable to sit on, and the tables had nice space and privacy in between other diners.
The restaurant has an extensive wine selection, and they were the most expensive wines I ever seen in my life, ouwh….. I was not be able to afford that….well.. maybe… but I definitely was not buying those expensive wines.
The menu offered was simple without any pretensions.. While we were browsing the menu, two types of different breads arrived on the table and they were free. The bread was warm and really tasty. The restaurant definitely got a satisfaction tick mark from me.
After ordering the food arrived in timely manner with explanations from the staff. The herring salad was okay, light and tasty. The duck confit ,spring rolls were really delicious, very yummy and I could have eaten again and again.
The grilled octopus and fresh vegetables was refreshing. It was cooked just right and the meat was very tender. The spring chicken with wood burner aroma was defined with great presentation where the plate was covered with smoke and opened, it smelled delicious. It looked so simple however the taste really delicious. The meat was so soft and tasty with different kind of herbs and salt. Unfortunately the pork taste was a bit bland, compared with the spring chicken, however it was presented beautifully on the plate.
Lastly and what I was waiting for was the dessert. The decadent dark chocolate cake with mixed berries, ice cream, and a creamy, tofu, yogurt on separate glass was to die for. It was worth all the money spent. Final dessert was a collections of petit fours to accompany the tea and coffee.
Oh boy… I was very happy with this restaurant. Fantastic service and great food without making a tear in the wallet like other Michelin restaurants around the world, especially in Denmark.
